Samantha Sepulveda

Head Assistant Coach

About the coach

Samantha Sepulveda began wrestling in 2007 at Rio Grande City High School and finished her high school career at Grulla High School in 2011. She was a four-time Regional and State qualifier, placing 2nd at Districts her freshman year before becoming a three-time District Champion. During her junior year, Samantha placed 3rd at the UIL State Championships, followed by a Regional Championship and State Runner-Up finish her senior year. She was also named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the regional tournament during her senior season.

Following high school, Samantha earned a wrestling scholarship to Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, where she continued her wrestling career as a member of the women's wrestling program at 55 kg. An injury eventually brought her competitive career to an end, but wrestling remained an important part of her life.
In 2024, Samantha returned to the sport as a coach with Deadshot Wrestling. Since then, she has had the opportunity to coach athletes at the local, state, regional, and national levels, including several opportunities with Team Texas.
Samantha coached the Team Texas youth team at Heartland Nationals, where the team finished 4th in the Platinum Pool. She also coached the 14U Girls National Duals team to a 5th-place finish and was selected to coach the Team Texas 16U Girls team at Fargo.
As a coach, Samantha enjoys being able to give back to the sport she grew up in and helping the next generation of wrestlers continue to develop. She has a special passion for girls wrestling and being part of its continued growth, helping young female wrestlers build confidence and recognize the opportunities available to them through the sport.
For Samantha, coaching is about more than wins and losses. It is an opportunity to use her own experiences as a wrestler to help her athletes grow, compete at higher levels, and create their own path in the sport.
